Sort of like what they did with Denathrius before they decided he was too cool a character to keep him on ice: implying that redeption is possible, but only somewhere very, very, very far down the line, so far that the players will not get to see it. You know, at this point Sylvanas dying (heroically or not) and ending up in Revendreth for some unspecified amount of time genuinely sounds like a decent idea to me.
